LAHORE, Jan 30: The Punjab government transferred and posted 15 superintendents of police in a major reshuffle in Lahore and Gujranwala on Thursday.

SP City Chaudhry Shafqaat Ahmad has been made the SSP Investigation.

Official sources informed Dawn that his new posting has been made under orders from the top despite reservations by the Punjab IGP and the Lahore DPO.

They claimed that many other senior police officials also objected to the appointment of Mr Shafqaat on what they said a senior and important post.

Mr Shafqaat belongs to Gujrat and was recently promoted from DSP to SP. Upon promotion he was posted as Lahore City SP and the opposition had on Jan 15 objected to his actions during the byelection to a Walled City Punjab Assembly seat.

Sources said in order to adjust Chaudhry Shafqaat, the government transferred SP Organized Crime (a part of the investigation wing) Bilal Siddique Kamyana because the former had worked under the latter as a DSP.

According to an official notification AIG Discipline, Punjab CPO, Muhammad Manzoor was transferred and posted as IGP’s PSO in place of Saqlain Shah already posted as DIG.

Lahore Additional SP City Shafqaat Ahmad was transferred and posted as Lahore SSP Investigation in place of Capt Muhammad Amin (retired) who was posted as Gujranwala SP Special Branch against a vacant post.

Sheikhupura Additional SP Tassadaq Hayat was transferred and posted as Lahore Additional SP (Headquarters) vice Zubair Nawaz Chattha who was posted as Lahore Crimes Branch SP against a vacant post.

Gujranwala Additional SP Abdul Karim was transferred and posted as Lahore Additional SP City against Chaudhry Shafqaat Ahmad.

OSD Rai Muhammad Tahir was posted as Gujranwala Additional SP in place of Abdul Karim.

OSD Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh was promoted to BS-18 and posted as Gujranwala SP City vice Mushtaq Ahmad who was asked to report to the S&GAD.

OSD Muhammad Azam Joya was posted as AIG Discipline in place of Muhammad Manzoor.

OSD Muhammad Inkisar Hussain was promoted to BS-18 and posted as Rahim Yar Khan Additional SP. OSD Javed Islam was posted as Gujranwala Range Crime SP, relieving Gujranwala SP Traffic Khwaja Mazhar Iqbal of the additional charge.

Lahore SP Organized Crime Bilal Siddique Kamyana was transferred and posted as Lahore Additional SP Security vice Muhammad Shahzad Aslam Siddique who was asked to report to the S&GAD.

OSD Shoaib Dastgir was posted as Lahore Crime Branch SP against a vacant post.

OSD Muhammad Ghalib was posted as AIG Inspection, Evaluation and Training, against a vacant post.

OSD Faisal Shahkar was posted as Punjab, Lahore, Special Branch Deputy Director (R&R) against a vacant post.

Meanwhile, the government has also transferred and posted 11 officers.

Rawalpindi DO (Revenue) Bashir Ahmad Farooqi was transferred and directed to report to the S&GAD. He was replaced by Sialkot DO Chaudhry Muhammad Afzal KHan.

Bhakhar DO (Coordination) Muhammad Ibrahim Qaiser was transferred and posted as Khushab EDO (Community Development).

Rawalpindi Punjab Small Industries Corporation Regional Director Malik Bashir Ahmad Khan was transferred and posted as Khushab EDO (Revenue).

Punjab Arts Council Deputy Director Shafqat Jalil was transferred and posted as Information Department Deputy Secretary.

OSD Mumtaz Ali Khan was posted as Bahawalpur DO (Coordination).

Pasrur DO (Revenue) Muhammad Iqbal was transferred and posted as Pind Dadan Khan DDO (Revenue).

Choa Saidan Shah DDO (Revenue) Nadeem Sarwar was transferred and posted as Pasrur DO (Revenue).

Rawalpindi DDO (Coordination) Sultan Shah Shahzad was transferred and posted as Rawalpindi Wapda Senior Special Magistrate.
