OKARA, April 14: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has confirmed its tickets for four out of five National Assembly constituencies in the district, besides announcing its candidates for various provincial assembly seats.

In NA-143, the PTI confirmed ticket to Mehmoodur Rehman Khan Lashari, a lawyer. He had contested 2008 election from PP-185 on Pakistan People’s Party ticket.

Sources say Lashari had actually been seeking PPP ticket for the constituency while the PTI was looking for a suitable candidate for NA-143. So, they say, the party and the man suited each other.

In PP-185, Mian Anwar Pasha had been confirmed as PTI candidate. The party ignored the former MPA, Malik Akram Bhatti, for the constituency who will now contest election as an independent candidate.

In PP-189 the PTI ticket went to Chaudhry Masud Shafqat Rubera, belonging to politically influential Rubera family. In NA-144, the PTI has confirmed ticket to Rao Khalid Mustafa, while for PP-190 it chose Chaudhry Muhammad Azhar who is also district president of the party.

In PP-191 the PTI has confirmed Qari Hafizullah Baloch as its candidate. Baloch is the party’s district general secretary.

In NA-145 the PTI confirmed its ticket to Ali Husnain Naqvi, while in PP-186 it awarded ticket to Chaudhry Wasi Tahir.

In PP-187 the pary has yet to announce its candidate.

In NA-146, the PTI confirmed ticket to Prof Abdur Rauf Dola, while for PP-192 the party confirmed Chaudhry Tariq Irshad Khan as its candidate, ignoring former MPA Malik Nazar Fareed Khokhar and Mian Sanaullah Dola. After being refused the PTI ticket, both joined Dr Abdul Qadeer’s Tehrik-e-Tahafuz-e-Pakistan party.

In NA-147 and PP-193 the PTI ticket had not been confirmed to any candidate.

DPO: The district police officer has told the SDPOs and SHOs to personally visit crime scenes.

The DPO Raja Basharat Mehmood issued the orders at meeting of officials at his office on Sunday.

He said all the expenditures related to case investigation would be borne by the police department.

He also ordered strict action against those resorting to aerial firing during marriage ceremonies.
