MIRPURKHAS, April 15: PML-F candidate for NA-266 (Mirpurkhas-I) Syed Qurban Ali Shah has alleged that returning officers (ROs) are accepting nomination forms of various candidates who have violated the code of conduct issued by the election commission.

He said this practice raised doubts over the ECP’s ability to hold elections in a free and fair manner.

Addressing a corner meeting held at the village of Syed Jaman Shah here on Sunday night, he said local returning officers did not ask candidates for clarifying their objections on each other.

He said he had informed the official about his objections against his opponent, but his (opponent’s) form had already been accepted.

He criticised former PPP MNA Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani, saying that according to a newspaper, Rs170 million had been given him for development work, but he had not spent any money in the constituency. Even he failed to construct the important road that was associated with the name of his father Pir Ghulam Rasool Shah Jilani.

He said his opponent had failed to serve people during the past 10 years and did not even come out of his bungalow.

Now he had brought forward his little brother Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani to contest in NA-226. Shafqat also failed to carry out any work for public welfare when he was Zila Nazim of Mirpurkhas.
