QUETTA, April 17: Budding fast bowlers Mohammad Ismail and Saizullah were selected from Quetta after round one of ‘King of Speed’ trials with top speeds of 134kph and 132kph respectively.

In the trials at Abbottabad, Ameer Hamza and Usman Khan were the lucky ones to make the grade with top speeds of 134kph and 131kph respectively.

After their selection in the first round, the four pacers have qualified for the second round which is scheduled to be held on Sunday, at the National Stadium, Karachi, and the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, simultaneously.

The Ufone-PCB King of Speed trials are part of the MoU signed between Ufone and the PCB earlier this month to hunt and train the best raw talent in fast bowling.

The trials for emerging young fast bowlers have been completed so far in six cities including Multan, Faisalabad, Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Islamabad, Karachi and Peshawar and a total of 12 bowlers have qualified for the second round.

Trial camps are being set up in ten cities across Pakistan over 5-7 days and any bowler with a bowling speed of 145kph or more will be rewarded with a grand prize of rupees one million.—Agencies
