KARACHI, April 17: The Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) has named Pakistan’s Shabbir Hussain Daruwala as chief referee for the 29th Asian Snooker Championship which is being held at hotel Sheraton from April 27 to May 3.
Daruwala, 60, is a veteran of three Asian Games — South Korea, Qatar and Guangzhou — 13 ACBS championships, two 6 Red world snooker championships besides other international events. He is also first World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) certified coach of Pakistan.
The ACBS has also approved the names of panel of referees who will supervise the Asian spectacle.
The panel comprises M.N. Ameer Mukhtar (Sri Lanka), Majid Parvaneh (Iran), Hossein Abdollahi Rafsanjani (Iran), Atsanan Thumkongtong (Thailand), Prakit Choungchatchaval (Thailand), Sundar Jairaj (India), Irfan Mirza (India), Mohammed Yousif Hassan (Bahrain), Nadhem Ahmed Abdulla Hasan (Bahrain), Hashim Sharf Al Haddad (Kuwait), Mohammedali Jaffari (Iran), Habib Kitabchi (Iran), Abdulhamid AbdulKarim (UAE) and Shoaib Alam (Pakistan).—Sports Correspondent
