KHAIRPUR, Feb 3: The sugarcane growers of Sobhodero, Gambat, Kingri and other Talukas continued to protest for the second consecutive day on Monday in their respective towns against the management of the Ranipur and Khairpur sugar mills.

The sugarcane growers told newsmen that the management of the Ranipur and Khairpur sugar mills had refused to issue indents for sugarcane harvested four days back, which was still lying in the fields, due to which it was drying up and loosing weight.

The growers alleged that the mill management were receiving sugarcane from Ghotki District and other areas outside Khairpur district.

The growers belonged to Jado Wahan, Razidero, Agra, Drib Mehar Shah, Kulab Jial, Ahmedpur, Khuhra, and Ripri.

Their representatives said that the poor growers were not being issued indents while the feudal lords from Ghotki district were being issued indents.

The growers told newsmen that if their crops were not picked up soon it would be destroyed and they would have to incur huge losses, and added that they would not be in a position to pay the government its dues.
