CHAKWAL, May 8: The district administration of Chakwal has finalised all arrangements for general elections, officials told Dawn on Wednesday.

As many as 73 polling stations out of 770 have been declared sensitive, while 218 polling stations have been placed in B-category and 479 in C-category.

About 3,299 police personnel will perform duties throughout the district, while four companies of army and one company of Rangers have been called to tackle any untoward situation.

“Seven personnel would be deployed at each sensitive polling station, while four would be deputed on each polling station falling in B and C categories,” Chief Security Officer of Chakwal Police Raja Zohaib told Dawn.

He added that 100 commandos of Elite Force would perform their duty. CCTV cameras would be installed at 25 polling stations.

Among the sensitive polling stations there are 35 in Chakwal city, 23 in Talagang, three in Kallar Kahar, five in Choa Saidan Shah, one each in Dhudial, Dohman and Tamman.

On the other hand, the District Election Commission has also given a final touch to its arrangements.

About 7,142 teachers, including 770 presiding officers, 2,124 assistant presiding officers and 4,248 polling officers have been deputed at 770 polling stations in the district.

As many as 162 polling stations have been fixed for men and the same number of polling stations for women. Four hundred and forty six polling stations are combined.

As many as 2,124 polling booths have been set up, from which 1,121 are for men and 1,003 for women. There are 929,747 voters – 490,296 men and 439,491 women in Chakwal district.

In NA-60, there are 486,070 registered voters, including 253,657 men and 232,413 women.

In PP-20, there as 250,385 voters, which include 130,373 men and 120,012 women.
