SUKKUR, Feb 9: A businessman from Bakhshapur, Vind Kumar, was kidnapped by four bandits on Sunday in Budhani village while he was on his way to his home.
According to reports, the bandits were riding a Suzuki Alto car and the incident occurred in the village’s crowded market.
A case has been registered by the Bakhshapur police.
Landlords arrested: The Ghotki Police arrested two big landlords — Ghulam Haider Bhutto and Ibrahim Bhutto — of Qadirpur, Ghotki district, on Sunday.
They were arrested following their refusal to obey the decision of a Jirga, which was held two days back by the leader of the Sindh National Front, Mumtaz Bhutto, over a land dispute between two groups of Bhutto tribesmen.
The SHO, Ghotki, told this correspondent that Ghulam Haider Bhutto and Ibrahim Bhutto were sent to the lock up without registration of an FIR on the verbal orders of the DPO, Ghotki, as they had refused to accept the verdict of the Jirga.
He said he believed that Mumtaz Bhutto asked the senior police officials to teach them a lesson as they were not accepting the Jirga’s decision.
ENCOUNTER: Three men, including a police constable, were injured in an exchange of fire between narcotic dealers and the police here on Sunday morning.
The police raided a narcotic den in New Goth where one of the narcotic dealers snatched rifle from a policeman and opened fire on the raiding party, injuring police constable Ghulam Farid Arbani.
Two narcotic dealers, Amanullah and Asadullah Pathan, were injured when the police returned the fire.
Later, the police arrested three accomplices of the narcotic dealers, Haleem Khan, Mirza Khan and Dilawar.
One kilogramme of heroin and one and a half kilograms of charas were recovered from the den.
