DADU, Feb 14: Federal minister for industries Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi has said Sindh will receive its share of water and shortage of the water will soon be overcome.

He said this while speaking at a public meeting in Faridabad town on Friday.

Assuring the participants of the public meeting regarding improving the province’s agricultural system as well as revival of sick industries in Sindh, he said that the government would force the sugar mill owners to purchase the sugarcane from growers at rate fixed by the government.

Later, Liaquat Ali Jatoi held a meeting with the government officials at Betto Jatoi on Friday.

The EDO (health), Dr Khadim Hussain Lakahir, briefed the minister about the performance of the department, including measures to curb skin diseases like leshmaniasis, as well as tuberculosis, diarrhoea and malaria.

ILLEGAL DETENTION: A man, Loung Khan Mirjat, accused the Bhan Saeedabad police of making an illegal raid on his house and keeping him in illegal detention before releasing him on payment of Rs10,000.

Speaking before newsmen at the local press club on Friday, the man, who is a resident of Shams Colony in Bhan Saeedabad, said that the SHO of Bhan Saeedabad police station, Khursheed Ahmed Junejo, accompanied by other policemen, had raided his house one day ago and had ruined his furniture before arresting him.

He also accused the policemen of having beaten up women and children in the house at the time of his arrest.

He said that the police had demanded Rs50,000 for his release but had released him on the payment of Rs10,000.

Now, he said, the SHO was demanding more money in bribe besides threatening him of dire consequences, including registration of fake cases against him.
