FAISALABAD, Feb 17: Security at the dryport has been tightened to avoid any untoward incident.

This was stated at a meeting held here on Monday which was attended by Faisalabad Dryport Trust chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh, senior vice-chairman Syed Fahim Mahmood and vice-chairman Khalid Javed and customs collector Umar Farooq.

The meeting decided that the guards posted at the main gate and the restricted area should be equipped with modern gadgets. Identity cards of the employees and visitors would be checked at the reception. Chemicals would be kept at a distance from other cargo.

The meeting was told that smoking has been prohibited on the dryport premises. Fire extinguishers have been placed at various places and the staff has been imparted training to enable them to use them in emergency.

The meeting was told that the car parking has been shifted to a plot acquired by the dryport on lease from Pakistan Railways. Parking in front of the dryport plaza has also been banned.
