LARKANA, Feb 18: A dispute over ownership of a plot in Zulfikarbagh has cropped up between the local municipal authorities and an activist of Pakistan Muslim League-Q.
This correspondent visited the site on Tuesday and found a half-constructed boundary wall on the plot inside the public park.
The situation grew tense on Monday when the municipal administration tried to demolish the boundary wall being constructed by the PML-Q activist, Syed Pir Shah.
Later, the district police officer heard both the parties and it was agreed upon that construction work would be stopped for a week.
When contacted, both the parties claimed their right over the plot.
Larkana Taluka Nazim Nazeer Ahmed Shaikh alleged that Mr Shah had encroached upon the public plot, measuring between 1000 and 15000 feet, and had begun construction of a boundary wall there with the deployment of armed men during the Eid holidays.
He accused the police of favouring Mr Shah.
On the other hand, Mr Shah, disputing the version of the taluka Nazim, said that he had purchased the plot from Ghazi Khan Shar who had earlier bought it from Hussain Shah.
He said that Mr Shar had filed a case in the court of first senior civil judge, Larkana, which had declared him the legal owner of the plot.
The judgement said that the municipal administration had failed to produce any documents in support of its claim whereas Mr Shar had successfully proved that Hussain Shah was the legal owner of the property.
The Taluka Nazim said that fake papers had been prepared by Mr Shar and added that he would contest the case in the court of law.
