SUKKUR, March 3: The life of a minor girl, Haseena Chachar, whose forcible marriage was annulled by a court, was in danger as she was being tried to be killed.
This was complained by her mother, Nawab Khatoon, while talking to journalists here on Monday.
She demanded of the higher police authorities to provide protection to her daughter, her and the members her family.
Mrs Khatoon said that the relatives of Misri Chachar and Bakhtiar Chachar wanted to kill her daughter and herself.
She told that some armed men attacked their village, Khanan Chachar, Gudpur area, Ghotki district, on Sunday. They opened indiscriminate fire and threatened them with dire consequences, she added.
Haseena, the victim of forcible marriage, was freed on intervention of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench last week.
Bashir Chachar, who had forcibly married her; Bakhtiar Chachar, the area landlord who had played a key role in the forcible marriage, and Maulvi Mohammad Usman, who had solemnized her Nikah, have been arrested on the order of the court.
The decision of her marriage was taken at a jirga meeting, headed by Bakhtiar, which was held to settle a Karokari dispute, involving a brother of the girl.
In order to punish the Karokari accused, it was decided by the jirga that his minor sister would be married to Bashir but she would stay with her parents till she attained the age of adulthood.
However, sometimes later Bashir took the girl to her home where he criminally assaulted the girl and refused to return her to her parents.
On this, a petition was filed in the court, which annulled the marriage and sent the girl to her parents.
