QUETTA Mula Bakhsh Dashti, a central leader of National Party and former district Nazim of Turbat, was shot dead in Turbat on Sunday evening.

His driver Shaukat suffered serious injuries in the attack on Mr Dashti's vehicle.

Police said that Mr Dashti was going home when armed men on a motorcycle opened fire, causing serious injuries to Mr Dashti and his driver.

They were taken to the civil hospital in Turbat where Mr Dashti died. His driver is undergoing treatment.

Soon after the incident, Frontier Corps and police personnel rushed to the area to investigate the murder and look for the assailants.

Mr Dashti worked as the district nazim of Turbat for five years.
