LARKANA, Sept 25 The book Guinness World Records (GWR) has credited three surgeons of Chandka Medical College Hospital with removing from a human body the largest kidney to date. The kidney they removed weighed 1.8kg.
Dr Abdul Rasheed Shaikh showed a certificate issued by the GWR to journalists on Saturday that confirmed the feat.
He said he and two of his colleagues, Dr Altaf Hussain Jokhiyo and Dr Mool Chand, operated on a 30-year patient, Waziran Mallah of Mehar, on Jan 26 and removed her “non-functioning” kidney. Dr Shaikh said he sent the details of the operation, including the weight and size of the kidney, to the GWR management on March 16. The GWR took eight months to confirm the record before including it in their book, he said.
