QUETTA Faiz Din Sasoli, a local leader of Pakistan People's Party, was killed when armed men opened fire at his car in Khuzdar on Sunday.

Mr Sasoli was passing through a bazaar when unidentified men on a motorbike opened fire at his car. Three people, Mr Sasoli's nephew among them, were injured, police said.

Two other people were injured when the driver lost control of the steering wheel and rammed the car into a shop.

The condition of Mr Sasoli's nephew was reported serious.

Mr Sasoli had survived two bids on his life before Sunday's fatal attack.

LANDMINE BLASTS

 

A couple and a man, all belonging to the Bugti tribe, were killed on Sunday in two landmine explosions in Dera Bugti district.

Sources said that a landmine planted in Pir Koh gas filed by unidentified men went off when a motorcycle hit it. The man riding the motorbike and his wife were killed.

The other blast was reported in Loti gas field leaving a man dead.

The names of those killed could not be ascertained.
