Sukkur library sold to builder

Published July 25, 2010

The Mir Masoom Shah Library is the only facility in Sukkur where students use reference books and prepare for exams.

Unfortunately, the library has been sold to builders to construct residential and commercial flats on the site. Despite the repeated complaints and protests by library visitors outside the Sukkur Press Club, the administration is silent on the issue.

The education system in Sindh, particularly in Sukkur, already leaves much to be desired and such acts will further cause harm to it. If this carries on in Sindh, our future generations will be unable to acquire quality education.

Every year more than 15 candidates pass their CSS exams from Larkana, and one of the reasons for that is that they benefit from the Shahnawaz Library which has the support of the Larkana administration.

Sadly this can't be said about Sukkur because of insufficient facilities. Therefore we request the authorities concerned to look into the matter.
