KARACHI: PR gets Chinese coaches

KARACHI, March 12: China on Wednesday handed over further 26 modern passenger coaches to the Pakistan Railways.

Federal Secretary and Chairman Pakistan Railways, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, received the coaches from Ms Qin Ruijun, Vice-President of the Chinese Machinery Import & Export Corporation (CMC) at a ceremony at the Karachi port.

Mr Khursheed said those coaches would be inducted into the Korakorum Express to operate daily between Karachi and Lahore from March 22.

GM Railways Hamid Hussan Butt said Pakistan’s old and trusted friend China had not only provided equipment for up-gradation and modernization of the railways, but had also transferred technology.—PPI
