Ghotki railway station

Published July 6, 2009

SINCE the assassination of Benazir Bhutto on Dec 27, 2007 the damage caused to the Railway Station, Ghotki, has not been rectified. The system that regulates trains has yet to be set right. The up-trains do not stop at the platform. Passengers have to board the train by crossing tracks which can be extremely dangerous. It particularly causes great hardship to the elderly, the disabled and patients. Loading and unloading of goods are also a hassle.

The railway station of Ghotki is one of the busiest stations of upper Sindh as hundreds of passengers use it daily. Besides, a lot of edibles like grains, fruits, vegetables and fish are sent upcountry through goods trains.

I request Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and railway authorities to please look into the plight of the citizens of Ghotki and carry out the repair work of the damaged railway station as soon as possible to provide convenience to passengers and goods transporters.
