KARACHI, March 13: The Defence Officers Housing Authority Karachi plans to build a technology park and an IT university at the Old Race Course Ground.

The technology park would be built on an area of 25 acres whereas the Jinnah University of Information Technology would be set up on an area of 10 arcres. The work on the project has already started.

The infrastructure for the IT Park envisages laying of 155 mbps fibre optic lines to the park from PTCL Exchange in Cantonment and DHA.

The Jinnah IT University would have research facilities and about 600 IT and Telecom companies of different description and configuration would be housed in the IT park.

For the IT university and park, 25 to 30 modern building complexes of 10 to 15 storeys will be constructed and equipped with all the IT, telecommunications, digital and software facilities. A vast bandwidth will join it with all the countries of the world through internet.

Around the IT park, beautiful recreational points and restaurants will be raised. A large recreational park, covering 75 acres with jogging tracks, is also being developed.

Similarly, the race course ground level is being raised, a sewerage plant has been built to recycle sewerage for irrigating the lawns and trees. Electricity, gas and other facilities are being provided.—PPI
