SUKKUR March 16: Former employees of the Sui Southern Gas Company have demanded of the federal government to reinstate the company’s 600 sacked employees and pay their salaries in accordance with the verdict of the Supreme Court.
Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, representatives of the former engineers and executive officers of the SSGC urged the government to exempt them from the IBA test for their reinstatement, saying that it was illegal and negated the Supreme Court’s order.
Describing their conditional reinstatement as an affront and discrimination against workers from Sindh and Balochistan, they said that their services had been terminated without justification.
They said that they had been terminated in 1994 and had later approached the Supreme Court, which had ordered for their reinstatement, called for their absorption and payment of retrospective benefits.
They further said that the review petition, filed by the SSGC, had been dismissed.
Criticizing the gas company for not honouring the Supreme Court’s decision, they urged political parties to support them in their struggle for their rights.
