Yasin slams Gilgit, Baltistan autonomy

Published September 3, 2009

LAHORE, Sept 2 Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that autonomy to Gilgit-Baltistan was a conspiracy to put the Kashmir issue on the back burner.

Talking to reporters at Lahore airport before his departure to New Delhi with his wife on Wednesday, Malik said India would benefit from the Pakistan government's decision.

He said Gilgit and Baltistan were part of Azad Kashmir under the Constitution and should remain part of it.

Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan should be made the base camp of the Kashmir freedom movement. He said he would participate in a roundtable on Gilgit-Baltistan.
