Fine knocks by Hussain, Musharraf

LAHORE, March 20: A fine knock of 68 by opener Musharraf Ali and an all-round performance by Mohammad Hussain guided  Lahore Whites to a 27-run victory over Karachi Blues in the NBP One-day Patron’s Cup Pool ‘D’ fixture at LCCA Ground on Thursday.

Chasing a target of 227, the visitors were all out for  199 in 46.1 overs with Hussain picking up three for 25.

Earlier, Hussain scored a useful 44 with four fours after Musharraf struck six boundaries in his 98-ball 68.

In other matches of this pool, Service Industries  defeated Sheikhupura by a big margin of 127 runs at Sheikhupura Stadium.

Batting first, Service Industries piled up 263 for nine in 50 overs thanks to Farhan Asghar, who scored 59.

In  reply,  Sheikhupura  were bundled out for  136. Leg-spinner Fayyaz Ahmad captured four for 21.

Allied Bank registered an emphatic 137-run victory against Pak PWD at Gymkhana Ground in Okara.

Propelled by half-centuries from Humayun Farhat (74) and Usman Tariq (50), the bankers scored a formidable total of 319 for  nine in  50 overs.

Leg-spinner Riaz Sheikh finished with six for 48.

In reply, PWD were bowled out for 188 in 47.1 overs with Ahmer Saeed playing a good knock of 51.
