DADU, Nov 1 Speakers at a gathering held here on Saturday evening to mark the seventh death anniversary of historian and archaeologist Taj Sehrai called upon the Sindh government to set up a campus of Sindh University in Dadu.

They also demanded due share of Sindh in the upcoming National Finance Commission award and halt to the influx of internally displaced people of Waziristan into the province.

A large number of scholars, poets, writers and intellectuals attended the function organised by the Sindhi Adabi Sangat at the auditorium of Tailbul Moula High School.

Writer Hameed Sindhi said that the work of Taj Sehrai on archaeological sites and historical places would guide researchers in future.

Ali Ahmed Qureshi, a friend of the late archaeologist, lauded the research work of Taj Sehrai, particularly on a Stone Age site “Seven man-made houses” in Kaai village.

Culture and tourism director Mohammad Ali Manjhi said that the culture department would publish two books of Taj Sehrai and establish corners in his name at Sehwan museum and Allama I.I. Kazi library, Dadu.

Professor Aijaz Qureshi urged the Dadu district government to provide a land for the proposed Sindh University campus.

Anwar Azad Kandhro, Wazir Mangi and Dr Professor Mujeeb Sehrai, son of the late scholar, also spoke on the life and works of the late Sehrai.
