QUETTA, May 21 A partial strike was observed in Quetta on Friday in response to a call by the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) to protest against what it says the target killings of Pakhtuns in Karachi.
The Awami National Party and Anjuman Tajran Balochistan backed the strike call.
Business centres and shops remained closed in different areas of the city.
However, educational institutions, government offices and banks functioned as usual and traffic in the city was normal.
In a statement issued here, the PkMAP thanked traders for observing the strike and called upon the federal and Sindh governments to arrest those involved in acts of violence in Karachi.
The party said that there would be no peace in Karachi until those behind killing of innocent people were brought to justice, adding that it was the responsibility of the government to protect the life and property of citizens.
