KOHAT, Aug 14 Rockets fired by suspected militants into Kohat and Peshawar on Friday injured four persons in their houses and snapped power transmission lines.

Official sources told Dawn that the rocket that hit Ali Rehman's house in Abdullah Colony of Kohat, injuring him, his wife and their daughter, was fired from Bezote area of Orakzai Agency.

It was the third such rocket attack from Bezote area into the Kohat city in 48 hours.

The latest attack intensified the demands by the social and political circles of the city that the government launch a cleanup operation to stop the rocket attacks from Darra Adamkhel and Orakzai Agency.

In Peshawar two rockets fell, one hitting a house in Gulberg, injuring a woman, and the other landed in open land in Bana Manai area.

Residents said the two rockets snapped 11KV lines, suspending power supply to different localities for many hours.A Peshawar Electric Supply Company spokesman said one rocket had severed the 11KV transmission line in Nothia at about 3am and after hectic efforts by the technical staff power supply was restored at 9am.

A police official said the rocket had also damaged the house of Inamul Haq, the Imam of Majid-i-Aqsa, injuring a woman. He said it appeared that the rocket came from the Peshtakhara side. Two rockets, meanwhile, were defused in the Chathro Dag area of Badbher early on Friday.
