PHF MD case sent to CM

Published February 17, 2010

LAHORE, Feb 16 The declaration by a senior DMG officer that he cannot work under the new health secretary because he is junior to him has reportedly been forwarded to the chief minister for a decision.

Sources said on Tuesday the dissenting officer, Tariq Javaid Afridi, presently working as Punjab Health Foundation MD, might be given some other assignment.

Mr Afridi had in an application to the chief secretary on Feb 12 stated that he was the senior most DMG Officer in BS-20 and it was not possible for him to work under Health Secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad who was in BS-19 and belonged to 15th Common Training Programme.

He had stated that despite being seven years senior to the secretary, he would have to work under Mr Fawad if he remained posted as the PHF MD. And being the secretary, Mr Fawad would write his performance evaluation report which would be 'unprecedented, unfair and unjust'.

Mr Afridi had requested grant of leave from Feb 15 to 20 after giving the reasons for not continuing with his present assignment.

Health department sources said the case had been reported to the chief minister for his advice. —Staff Reporter
