ISLAMABAD, Aug 26 Pakistan Air Force (PAF) started on Thursday its flood rescue and relief operations from Nawabshah. The PAF is already carrying out relief work from Jacobabad and Sukkur.

“Two choppers have been positioned in Nawabshah which have started rescue and relief operations in surrounding areas of Thatta and kutcha areas of Sindh,” a PAF spokesman said.

He said six helicopters operating from Nawabshah, Jacobabad and Sukkur were taking part in the relief and rescue work and 15 C-130 aircraft were flying day and night, transporting relief goods to different parts of the country.

The spokesman said that a Turkish Air Force's C-130, which joined the PAF along with its crew last week, was also transporting relief goods to flood-affected areas of Jacobabad, Sukkur and Rajanpur.

He said most of the relief goods from abroad were coming to Chaklala airbase, Samungli airbase at Quetta, Faisal airbase in Karachi and Peshawar airbase from where they were taken to flood-hit areas by C-130 planes.
