Nasir shines in Sindh ranking tennis

KARACHI, Feb 7 Junior international Nasir Mushtaq conjured up two back-to-back victories in a day on his way to making it to men's singles last four in the Open Sindh ranking tennis championship at the DHA Sunset Club on Thursday.

First he handed a 6-1, 6-0 drubbing to Fahim Ramzan in the pre quarter-finals and then prevailed 6-0, 6-0 over Aslam Pervez in the quarters.

The highlight of the ladies singles which got underway on Thursday is participation of a young Sri Lankan Chamara Jaysinghe who has been seeded fourth among eight participants.

The Lankan sneaked into next round by posting 6-0, 7-5 win over Sara Ahmed.

Another talented player Abdul Rehman, the top seed in juniors' U-17 and U-15 singles, was unlucky to leave the event halfway as he left for Islamabad to appear in juniors' Davis Cup trials.
