KARACHI Two Pakistani cueists, Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Asif, made a winning start in the IBSF World Snooker championship which opened in the Indian city of Hyderabad on Sunday.

Pakistan's top cueist Sajjad whipped Farhan Mirza, a former national champion now settled in Sweden, 4-0 in group K with a score line of 59-45, 63-5, 99-15, 93-4.

Pakistan's No 2 Asif, who is also the reigning national champion, recovered after conceding the opening frame to post 4-1 victory over Ahmed Aly of US. Drawn in group C, Asif was home 36-59, 63-53, 62-49, 74-17, 83-16.

Sajjad next faces Juha Erkinmikko of Finland while Asif takes on Australia's Stave Misfud on Monday.
