HYDERABAD, April 6 Plans are underway for establishing Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto chair in the universities of the province for conducting research on his ideology and achievements, said Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Ms Sassui Palijo during inaugural ceremony of a three-day exhibition of Bhutto's pictures at the Sindh Museum on Sunday.

The aim of research was to bring to fore facts and figures which had remained dormant, she said. Terming Bhutto's hanging as extra judicial killing she said that the Party was thinking of getting re-opened the case.

Z.A. Bhutto always believed in democracy and supremacy of masses, the proofs of which were land reforms, labour policy, industrial policy and foreign policy and implementation of his vision was the only way to bring the country out of crises, Sassui said. She likened the terrorists' activities to conspiracy against Pakistan and vowed to foil such actions.

Sindh Minister for Fisheries Zahid Ali Bhurgari said that the PPP came into power with the support of masses and was working for strengthening democracy which was proved by the reconciliatory approach it took.

Local leaders, including Sarfaraz Rajar, Amanullah Siyal, Ms. Sanam Talpur and Secretary Culture Shams Jafrani also spoke on the occasion.

Later, Sassui Palijo, Zahid Ali Bhurgari and other leaders inaugurated a book fair at the Sindh Museum and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Corner at the Allama Dawood Pota Library.

MINISTER The government was working on different plans for female education through which it wants to create awareness and encouragement and their participation in social development activities, said Sindh Minister for Women Development Ms Tauqir Fatima during a meeting with Management Committee of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Centre at Hyderabad late on Sunday.

The provincial government like the Centre too was thinking of providing district-wise platforms for the protection of women's rights, she said and hoped the era would prove a golden period for females. Women empowerment was the issue to be dealt with honesty by providing them due share in jobs and loaning facilities to artisans, said Tauqir Fatima.

The government was considering opening up new investment avenues for females but before that it was essential that they were made aware of their rights for which the NGOs should come forward and play their role, said the minister. She lauded the services rendered by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Centre Hyderabad for women in distress.

Later, the Sindh Minister and Technical Adviser Ministry of Women Development Dr Nagina Sadaf visited the centre and inquired about the problems from its managers.

CONFERENCE Renowned social worker Ms Aaisha Aftab has called upon the NGOs to extend their services up to rural areas where people, especially women were still deprived of basic facilties.
