HYDERABAD, Aug 31 District Coordination Officer Ali Ahmed has claimed that the issue of providing flour to the people at the price fixed by the government has been resolved.

He said the monthly wheat quota of Hyderabad district had been increased to 215,716 bags by the Sindh government to meet the demand under a formula based on population.

Speaking at a meeting of the district price control committee, the DCO said the release of wheat to mills and Atta Chakki owners had been started according to their quota at the rate of Rs1,932 per bag and the mill managements were bound to sell flour at Rs22 per kg as ex-mill price and Rs23.50 per kg as retail price, while Chakki owners would sell flour at Rs23.50 per kg as ex-Chakki price and Rs24.50 per kg as retail price.

He said to ensure proper supply of flour in market, 40 flour selling stalls were being established in the district where 10kg flour bags would be available at the cost of Rs220.

He expressed dissatisfaction over the performances of market committee. The DCO directed the DDOs of revenue, who have special judicial powers, to ensure the circulation and distribution of price list among shopkeepers.

He asked them to display at least 100 banners of price of essential and main edible items in the market for the awareness of public.

He said the price list of kitchen items would be published in main newspapers and it would be run on cable TV networks.

He said the management of Utility Store Corporation following a decision was adding seven more stores to 45 existing stores to ensure supply of edible items in each union council.

The DCO informed the meeting that fruit prices would be fixed jointly by representatives of merchants, revenue and the TMA Latifabad on daily basis.

He said during Ramazan, Bachat Bazaar would be set up in each taluka.
