HYDERABAD, April 9 An angry mob all but lynched two robber after they were caught red-handed attempting to rob a grocery shop in Unit-7 Latifabad on Wednesday night.

Two shopkeepers Shaiq and Sadiq, who are brothers, suffered injuries when they put up resistance.

Police who were informed by then rushed to the store and managed to get hold of the alleged robbers.

In the meantime, a mob gathered outside the shop and snatched the accused from the policemen as soon as they came out and started thrashing them. The accused got panicked and opened fire, hitting Shaiq and Sadiq.

Police seized weapons from the possession of the accused who were later identified as Shafqat and Asif.

The injured shopkeepers were taken to civil hospital while the accused were moved to Jamshoro branch of the Civil Hospital where they were operated upon and their condition was stated to be stable.

The angry friends and relatives of the injured shopkeepers who had rushed to the hospital smashed windowpanes when they came to know that the inured robbers were not brought there.

Their violent reaction was triggered more by an incident in the past in which the shopkeepers' cousin Amir was gunned down in a similar armed robbery several months ago in the same Unit-7 Latifabad at a cellular phone shop.
