HYDERABAD, March 16 Appreciating the arranging of 'Flower Show', Sindh Minister for Environment Askari Taqvi paid tribute to the district government for undertaking massive development work in the city.
He said this at the concluding session of the three-day flower show on Sunday at Nursery Park Latifabad No 6.
He said that a comprehensive strategy had been evolved for collecting and recycling waste along with initiating a project for production of electricity and different gases by utilising the dung of some 100,000 buffaloes of Hyderabad.
In his welcome speech,
Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil in the welcome address said that there were times when the rated as the biggest city of the country and added that efforts were being made to restore its glory.
The holding of flower show was a step in this direction, he said adding the district government had distributed free bangles among 15,000 women keeping the traditional identity of the city. He announced of holding soon a festival.
Naib District Nazim Zafar Rajput, MNA Tayyab Hussain, DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri and others also spoke on the occasion.
At the conclusion of the function,
The minister distributed awards to first, second and third position holders of the flower show. Special cash award of Rs10,000 was given to the Public School Hyderabad.
MPAs Sohail Yousuf and Ms Farheen Mughal, nazims and councilors, offices of the district government, school children and nursery owners graced the occasion.
