HYDERABAD, March 18 The Bureau of Students Tutorial, Guidance/Counselling Services and Co-curricular Activities, University of Sindh, organised an inter-departmental English debate contest at Shaikh Ayaz auditorium of the university on Wednesday.
The topic of the debate was “It is vice that always wins, not virtue.”
Two students from every teaching centre, institute and department participated in the debate competition while a large number of faculty members and students attended the event.
Ms Naila Shaikh of Institute of English Language and Literature won the first prize, while Farooq Azam Lakho of Institute of Chemistry won second and Noman Panhwar of department of Economics fetched the third prize.
Special Prize was awarded to Waqar Ahmed Kalwar of Institute of Business Administration and consolation prize was awarded to Ms Sumaiya of Institute of English Language and Literature while appreciation prize was given to Hizbullah Korejo, student of Pakistan Study Centre.
Team trophy was awarded to Institute of English Language and Literature on securing of overall best score by its students.
Speaking on the occasion, University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui appreciated students' confidence, performance and way of delivery in debate.
MUET The Institute of Information and Communication Technologies and the departments of Electronics and Bio-Medical Engineering of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology is organising a three-day training course on “Field Programmable Gate Array” (FPGA) in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (USA) from Wednesday.
Speaking as chief guest at the concluding session, the Dean, Faculty of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Professor Dr Abdul Karim Baloch, said that the objective of the course was to enable the participants to have a clear insight into programmable logic boards that help engineers gain new skills and advance new
designs.
