HYDERABAD, March 4 The failure to prepare a master plan and introduce the Geographical Information System (GIS) in Hyderabad have hampered development efforts, District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said, adding that the government was taking required steps in this direction while keeping in view the future needs.

A detailed survey had been conducted with proper planning for present, mid-term (up to 2017) and tong-term requirements (up to 2027).

He said that there wouldn't be any need for more flyovers up to 2017 after the completion of under construction projects.

He told this to a meeting held in his Secretariat on Wednesday in connection with the preparation of the GIS and master plan of Hyderabad and the ongoing development projects.

The GIS will be linked with the district website soon after its installation and a committee of experts would be appointed to review the master plan book, said district nazim.

He asked the website developers to contact heads of concerned departments in case of difficulties.

The meeting was attended by the DCO Aftab Ahmed Khatri, Project Director HDP, Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, consultants Osmani and Company, website developers, contractors and concerned officers.

WARNING Officers have been directed to ensure supply of fertilisers at official rates with violators warned of severe action.

The directives and warning were issued by the DCO Farooq Ahmed Leghari of Tando Mohammad Khan during a meeting with district officials on Wednesday.

The EDO Revenue was asked to personally ensure the availability of fertiliser on time and conduct raids on the shops of hoarders and black-marketers. He directed the officers to ensure that there was no hoarding of fertiliser by landlords.

The matter of lining of watercourses was also discussed. The DCO was informed that the work on 105 watercourses was already complete with the remaining to finish within the stipulated period. The DCO said that a sports complex would be built in the town to provide indoor game facilities to the people of district.
