HYDERABAD: Asphalt plant inaugurated

HYDERABAD, Jan 30 District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil inaugurated the first-ever asphalt concrete plant in the interior of Sindh on Tando Mohammad Khan road here on Friday.

Speaking on the occassion on he said that the construction of asphalt roads made it necessary for establishing a plant in Hyderabad as bringing material from Karachi which was cumbersome.

The district government, to complete all development schemes on time, decided to construct this plant with the assistance of Heavy Mechanical Complex, Taxila, he said. The adjoining districts will also benefit from it, he added.

The plant is spread on 18 acres with asphalt concrete production capacity of 60 tons per hour and connected to a generator for uninterrupted operations during power breakdown, he said.

The area where plant is situated was outside the municipal limits and low-lying accumulated with dirty water, he said adding that now 300 acres more land had been acquired for setting up industries.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Taluka Nazim Latifabad, Sabir Hussain Kaimkhani, DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri, Project Director HDP Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah and others.
