HYDERABAD, March 2 Properties of Pakhtoon settlers were torched under a conspiracy to foment Pakhtoon-Mohajir riots, alleged participants of the meeting of the Awami National Party (ANP) interior Sindh zone on Sunday.
Senior Vice President, ANP Sindh, Haji Asmatullah Mehsood presided over the meeting which was attended by the party office-bearers from Khairpur, Sukkur, Naushahro Feroze, Nawabshah, Jacobabad and other districts of upper and lower Sindh.
The participants remarked that the conspiracy was foiled with the efforts of ANP and MQM leaders while lauding District Nazim, Kanwar Naveed Jamil for taking timely action in defusing a volatile situation.
It cautioned the ANP leaders from interior Sindh to be aware of such moves by a third group and always maintain an atmosphere of brotherhood.
They demanded of the Sindh government to bear the expenses of Pakhtoons receiving burn injuries in Larkana and compensate those whose properties were torched in Shahdadkot, Jamshoro, Kotri and Hyderabad.
The meeting expressed concern over the disqualification of Sharif brothers as according to them the move may harm the nascent democracy.
