ISLAMABAD Pakistan WAPDA narrowly beat Higher Education Commission by 3-2 to win the title of the 8th national womens volleyball championship here at Pakistan Sports Complex on Thursday.

 

WAPDA won the final 19-25, 25-13, 23-25, 27-25 and 15-9 as HEC won the first game and then led 2-1 after three games before allowing their opponents to claw back in to the match and grab the title.


WAPDA spikers Rabia Malik, Amna Butt, Shabana Kausar and Atiya Maqbool were too strong with their powerful smashes and effective blocking.


Earlier Punjab outclassed Police by 25-15, 25-11 and 25-13 to take the third slot in the event.


MNA Tasneem Siddiqui was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony while secretary Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Major (R ) Mohammed Afzal, Chief of PVF Women wing Najma Hameed and others were also present.
