THATTA, April 7: The district council, Thatta, on Monday strongly condemned the US-led coalition forces’ aggression and brutalities against the innocent people of Iraq.

The district council met under the chairmanship of Ibrahim Gandhro.

Speakers Ayesha Soho, Barkat Khwaja and others said that the aggressors in Iraq had violated all ethics and norms and had let hell loose on the population.

It was brought to the notice of the session that about 70 per cent girls’ primary and boys’ schools, particularly in Sujawal sub-division, were merely functioning on paper and the officers of the education department were taking no notice of the situation.

The session suggested formation of a committee to look into the issue.

It took exception of the outcome of an inquiry against the Nazim Union Council, Darya Khan Soho, and called for a separate inquiry against him.

It offered Fateha for the departed souls of poet Mohammad Khan Majidi and advocate Sajjad Ali Shah who expired in the early hours of Monday.

SUICIDE: A man, Mohammad Akram Khaskheli, 25, committed suicide by immolating himself in the Khaskheli Mohalla on Monday.

He had been unemployed since long as a result of which he became depressed and committed suicide.

MANHANDLED: The Taluka Nazim, Thatta, Ada Mohammad, was manhandled by a drug addict in the town on Monday.

Eyewitnesses said that the Taluka Nazim advised the man to stay away from narcotics, which infuriated him.
