PESHAWAR Qualifying rounds of the Chief of Air Staff National Junior Squash Championship finished in five different categories at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Monday.

 

After completion of the qualifying round with 32 matches in each categories Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 played and out of that, four players from each qualified for the main round of the Championship which started on Tuesday.

 

There were tough matches witnessed in all five categories.

 

In the Under-11 Haroon Khan, Zeeshan Gul, Abbas Zaib and Salman Jilani qualified for the main round. Haroon Khan registered 3-2 victory against Hamid Habib. The score was 11-7, 10-12, 11-9, 8-11 and 11-5. Haroon Khan presented an excellent display of forceful smashes and shots.

 

In the second qualifier Zeeshan Gul beat Osama by 3-1, the score was 11-7, 8-11, 11-9 and 12-10 while Abbas Zeb beat Nasir Khan in a one-sided affair. In the last qualifier Salman Jilani beat Manzoor Zaman by 3-0, the score was 11-5, 11-7 and 11-9.

 

In the Under-13 category Zeeshan Javed, Ismail Rauf, Faizan Khan and Muhammad Shahzad reached to the main round after recording victories in the qualifying round. In the first qualifier, Zeeshan Javed beat Faizanullah by 3-0, the score was 11-5, 11-7 and 11-8, Ismail Rauf beat Asfandiyar Khan by 3-1, the score was 11-9, 12-10, 7-11, and 11-8.

 

In the third qualifier Faizan Khan beat Arshad Khan in a thrilling match by 3-2. Both the players gave each other a tough fight. Faizan Khan won the first two sets by 12-10, and 11-9 but he failed to do the same in the next set as Arshad Khan came back strongly and levelled  it 2-2. The score was 9-11, 6-11. But it was the last set in which Faizan Khan struck back and won the decisive set by 11-8. In the fourth qualifier Muhammad Shehzad beat Wajid Ali by 3-0, the score was 11-8, 11-4 and 11-5.

 

Arif Gul, Arslan Khan, Aman Sher and Abbas Shoukat reached the main round from the Under-15. Arif Gul beat Ejad Ahmad by 3-2, Arshad khan beat Arsalan by 3-1, Aman Sher beat Javed Ali by 3-0 and Abbas Shoukat beat Suleman Hashmi by 3-0.

 

Ammas Farid beat Fazal Mehmood by 3-0, Bilal Zakir beat Babrak in straight sets, Saifullah Kakar beat Ali Nasir by 3-1 and Shahzab beat Mansoor Jan by 3-1 to reach the main round.

 

Intikhab Ali, Rehmanullah, Naveed Khan and Suliman Khan entered the main round from the Under-19 qualifying round. Intikhab recorded a straight sets victory against Suleman Jaffar.

Naveed beat Shahid Hussain by 3-0 and  Suliman Khan beat Asif Zaffar by 3-0 while Rehmanullah beat Khalid Khan by 3-2 in tough battle. - APP
