ABBOTABAD The Pakistan hockey team concluded the first phase of its training camp in Abbotabad on Thursday and will leave on a tour of Holland next week.

 

Assistant coach Ahmad Alam expressed satisfaction on enhanced physical fitness and much improved attacking techniques by players under the guidance of Dutch chief coach Michel Van Den Heuvel.

 

He said the main emphasis was on physical fitness which was achieved.

 

“Heuvel's coaching tips taught new attacking tricks to our forwards. The chief coach made players focus on physical, power training.”

 

He said hard training at Abbottabad had put the players in a good position for the second phase of training which will take place in Holland.

 

“We will play two matches each against Germany and Belgium and two against two Dutch clubs.”

 

The team which leaves on September 1 for Holland includes Imran Shah, Zeeshan Ashraf, Muhammad Imran, Kashif Javed, Waseem Ahmad, Muhammad Rashid, Waqas Sharif, Rehan Butt, Shakeel Abbasi, Muhammad Rizwan, Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Tauseeq, Muhammad Omer Bhutta, Shafqat Rasool, Abdul Haseem Khan, Fareed Ahmad, Muhammad Zubair, Waqas Akbar and Imran Butt. - PPI
