LAHORE Pakistan tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi has pulled himself out of the upcoming Asian Games as now Pakistan will not compete in the doubles' event.

Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) President Arif Hasan confirmed to Dawn that Aisam took the decision as he preferred to play in the ITF circuit to further improve his doubles' ranking from existing six.

“Now Pakistan is left with only Aqeel Khan and he will play only individual matches,” Arif said, before leaving for China on Tuesday evening.

The Pakistan contingent of more than 230 officials and players is to reach Guangzhou by Wednesday in batches to take part in 17 different disciplines with some chances of winning medals in the sports of cricket, hockey, snooker, judo and squash.
