LAHORE President Pervez Musharraf and his western allies, mainly US, Tuesday came under fire in the Punjab Assembly for conspiring against Pakistan.

The PML-N had decided to table a resolution in the assembly to condemn President Musharraf for promoting western agenda to destabilise Pakistan.

The Punjab Assembly proceeding started with a delay of one hour from its schedule time. After the recitation of the Holy Quran, Prisons Minister Abdul Ghafoor drew the attention of the House towards a conspiracy being hatched against Pakistan. He said Pervez Musharraf was working against the integrity of the country and a statement by Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan proved this. Quoting the nuclear scientist, Chaudhry Ghafoor alleged that Pervez Musharraf was working to dismember Pakistan before 2015 on the directives of USA.

The PML-N member also drew the attention of the House to some news reports stating slain chairperson of PPP Benazir Bhutto was murdered for calling for a probe into nuclear smuggling. He said conspiracies were being hatched against Pakistan by the West. Shuja Khanzada, an MPA from Attock said it was MPAs responsibility to formulate polices protecting national interests. He said the smooth working of the coalition government had also shocked the elements working against national integrity.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rehman Rana, a PPP member from Faisalabad, protested against an incident of maltreatment with him by an official of a construction company of Faisalabad. He said that his vehicle was stopped and searched for no reason. He said that he was treated for raising voice against officials of the company that tried to hide contract details of toll plaza fee collection.

Senior Minister Raja Riaz in his speech said House should pay attention on the grave issue and asked the MPA to move a motion. Raja Riaz on a point of order also informed the House that the Punjab government had offered an airplane to the bereaved family of Snageen Wali Khan, son of late Wali Khan, so that they could move the body safely and comfortably. He said on the directions of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, he himself along with other provincial ministers visited hospital to inquire about the health of Sangeen Wali Khan who died early Thursday.

Muhammad Hussain Dehar of the PPP on a pint of order drew the attention of the House over award of title of Sir to Salman Rushdie by Queen Elizabeth. He said the decision to confer knighthood on Rushdie was meant to hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims across the world.

Meanwhile, the House was informed by the acting speaker about the arrest of Mian Ajmal Asif of the PML-Q and his 13 armed supporters by Faisalabad police for injuring the workers that staged a protest demo outside the factory to press for their demands.

Punjab Minority Affairs Minister Kamran Michel told the House that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had granted two-year extension to the widow of renowned artist and teacher Dildar Pervez Bhatti and announced financial assistance of Rs 500,000 to her. He said this in response to a point raised by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din a few days ago that the authorities asked the widow of Dildar Pervez Bhatti to vacate the official residence. He said that he had talked to the Punjab CM who issued directions to extend the official residence facility for two years and ordered to pay Rs 500,000 as financial assistance to the family.
