LARKANA, April 10: The Sindh governor has asked for a report from the district Nazim and the district police officer (DPO), Larkana, regarding the murder case of a lady health worker, Sajida Leghari, who was allegedly killed by her former husband.

She was killed while returning from work on Feb 6 at the Jamal Khan Leghari village.

The Ansar Burney Trust, in a letter to the Sindh governor, has expressed concern over the delay in arresting the culprit, Fazal Mohammad.

Initially, the SHO of the police station concerned had simply lodged a (non-cognizable) report with the police station, police sources said on Thursday.

However, later, one Nadir Hussain had an FIR lodged which resulted in the arrest of the criminal, the sources said.

On being contacted, the investigation wing of the Larkana police told this correspondent that the alleged killer had been sent behind bars after registering an FIR under section 302.

The Sindh governor had asked that a detailed report be sent to him at the Governor House within a week.

On being contacted, both offices of the DPO (Watch and Ward, and Investigation) said that they had no information about any such letter from the Sindh governor.

However, officials at the district Nazim’s office said that a report would be sent to the governor in this regard.

HOSTAGES FREED: Ali Hassan Khawar and Ahsan Khawar, kidnapped a fortnight ago from the Gaji Khawar town, Warah, returned home, the police said on Wednesday.

The police claimed that their efforts had been instrumental but it was learnt that the kidnap victims had paid ransom for their release.
