NAWABSHAH, March 9 The vehicular traffic in the district is becoming more and more chaotic due to negligence of the authorities.
The district administration and traffic police have failed to control heavy traffic. The problem aggravates when motorists voilate traffic rules.
Another problem is the intercity bus stands. Almost all the transport stands, including for Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Sukkur and Naushahro Feroze were inside the city and most of them are illegal.
Vans, picking up passengers for Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar, Daur, Bandhi and other areas have no proper offices and have occupied main roads using them as bus stands in connivance with the traffic police and causing a great hardship to commuters and pedestrians.
Schoolchildren were the worst sufferers as most of these illegal van stands were adjacent to or near schools. The other major obstacle was encroachment on roads by vendors and pushcart holders.
Small traders who pay to traffic police have encroached on Mohini Bazaar, Chakra Bazaar road, Hospital road, Masjid road, Sakrand road, Manuabad road and other roads.
On the other side, a few traffic police officials are seen in the city and most of them are found at the entry and exit points of the district and city.
The traffic coming and going from and to old Nawabshah always remain jammed at the railway crossing of Phatak Road as a result of which motorists, cyclists and pedestrians can not move freely and wait for hours.
