QUETTA The driver of an oil tanker carrying fuel for Nato forces in Afghanistan was killed and his colleague seriously injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on their vehicle near Khuzdar on Sunday.
The oil tanker from Karachi was on its way to Kandahar via the RCD Highway when it came under gunfire in Rekhovan area of Khuzdar district.
'Driver was killed on the spot while another man sitting with him was injured seriously,' Mumtaz Mohammad Hasni, a senior police officer of Khuzdar said.
The armed men disappeared from the scene after firing on the tanker. The injured trucker was admitted to the civil hospital in Khuzdar.
No one has claimed the responsibility of the attack. Police are investigating the incident. No arrests were reported till the time of filing.
