NAWABSHAH, May 25 Shaheed Benazirabad district faced the hottest day of the season on Tuesday as mercury hit 52 degrees Celsius and the city robbed of electricity from half-past-six in the morning till one thirty in the afternoon.

Quite a number of routine operations were postponed at the People's Medical College Hospital because of the day-long shutdown with only emergency interventions carried out through alternate means.

Roads stayed deserted as people preferred to stay indoors which also kept attendance in the offices remarkably thin and business activities receiving similar fate.

Our Larkana correspondent adds Larkana and its adjoining areas remained in the grip of scorching heat on Tuesday when mercury rose to 52 degree Celsius. City roads wore desert look as people chose to remain indoors to avoid heat stroke. Coupled with harsh weather, unannounced power load shedding added to misery of the people.
