Musharraf`s trial sought

RAWALPINDI, March 21 The Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association on Saturday called for trial of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf for subverting the Constitution and said the former army chief should be ousted from the Army House.

At a meeting, the former servicemen praised the legal community for successfully leading the two-year-long struggle for reinstatement of the deposed judges.

The meeting, chaired by Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari, was attended by vice-admiral (retd) Tasnim Haider, air vice-marshal (retd) Sadruddin, Lt-Gen (retd) Naeem Akbar, Maj-Gen (retd) Aslam Zuberi, Maj-Gen (retd) Hidayatullah Niazi, Brig (retd) Khadim Hussain, Brig (retd) Masudul Hassan, Brig (retd) Salam and Captain (retd) Babur Zahiruddin besides several other members of the PESA.

Lahore High Court Bar Association president Malik Shahzad Gehba, District Bar Association president Taufeeq Asif, former LHCBA president Sardar Asmatullah, Siddiq Awan and former ambassador Akram Zaki were also present.

The association decided to form a special committee to formulate proposals for the trial of Pervez Musharraf for violation of the Constitution and “other crimes” committed by him.

The PESA expressed surprise over the continued occupation of the Army House by Gen Musharraf and the protocol and protection provided by the Army.
