Landslide kills eight in Skardu

SKARDU, June 4 Eight people were killed and 12 others injured when a landslide struck a village in Kharmang area of Skardu district late on Thursday night, official sources said.

The incident occurred at around 11pm when the landslide triggered by rain enveloped some houses in Kindrik village.

Over a dozen houses and a mosque were damaged.

Those killed were identified as Ali Raza, 25; Khati, 52; Asif, 10; Asifa, 1; Zahida, 8; Sajida, 17; Habiba, 14; and Anisa, 8.

The sources said that three of the 12 injured were taken to the DHQ hospital Skardu and nine were being treated at Tolti hospital.
