Khairpur radio off air for third day

Published September 7, 2009

KHAIRPUR, Sept 6 The Khairpur station of Radio Pakistan was off the air for the third day on Sunday reportedly because of some faults in high power transmission (HPT) lines.

Sources at the station said that a transmitter valve had gone out of order on Friday morning, bringing transmission to a halt.

The radio station could not cover the 188th Urs of Sachal Sarmast and activities of the chief minister. The station, which transmits programmes for 16 hours a day, covers many parts of upper Sindh including Nawabshah and also some parts of Balochistan.

Over the past few months, its transmission is suspended for 8 to 10 hours daily because of faults in the HPT generator during loadshedding hours. —Correspondent
